About eLitmus Exam

Essentially, eLitmus Exam is a pen and paper aptitude test designed to be completed in two hours. The question paper consists of three sections i.e., quantitative, verbal and analytical. Each section has 20 questions making it a total of 60 marks. The maximum marks are 600 and the questions in each section are objective in MCQ format.

1. Quantitative Aptitude section: Important topics to be covered under this section include Number Systems, Averages, Percentage and Interest, Time, Speed and Distance, Geometry, Coordinate Geometry, Logarithms, Quadratic Equations, Probability, Permutation and Combination, Time and Work, Allegation and general logic.

2. Analytical Section: Important topics to be covered under this section include Seating Arrangement, Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency Bar Graphs/Pie Charts and Cryptic Multiplication including Coding/Decoding.

3. Verbal Section: Important topics to be covered under this section include Reading Comprehension, Paragraph Formation/ Para-jumbles Fill in the appropriate words and English Grammar.

Candidates need to score between 80 and 90 percentile in all the three sections to get shortlisted for the interview of most of the companies. eLitmus exam is similar to the CAT Exam. So, candidates can refer to CAT’s syllabus also.

Beware of negative marking

There is a negative marking for wrong answers. If a candidate gets more than 25 percent questions wrong of their total attempt, then for every wrong answer half a mark is deducted. If more than 1/4th of the total questions are wrong, then negative marking would be applied. Remember that negative marking are section wise and not on the complete test.

Candidates should not get stuck with any one question. It can take away their precious time. Time management is extremely important for this exam. Practice matters a lot too. They should take a lot of mock tests and go through previous year’s question papers to know about the pattern of questions.
