The SBI PO exam notification is out and the last date for online application and payment of fee is March 6, 2017.
Is your heart beating like a pair of bongo drums? It’s the adrenaline rush- the fight or flight stress response of your body.
So what’s it to be?
We say FIGHT!
This is a chance to get one of the most wanted jobs in India and lakhs of graduates eagerly wait for the SBI recruitment drive every year.
The SBI preliminary examination dates are the 29th & 30th of April, the 6th and 7th of May 2017. The Main Examination is scheduled for the 4th of June. There’s no need to stress out. You can put in your concentrated best efforts to make every single second count and come up a winner with the correct strategy.
Speed vs. Accuracy
You have to strike a balance between these two if you have to win this game. With about ½ a minute to solve a question, there’s barely time to think: you have to take off like the sprinter at the sound of the starter’s gunshot. The key to this is PRACTICE.
Do it again and again
Set a daily target for yourself.
You can devote an entire day to one topic: for example, English one day followed by Quantitative Aptitude the next day and so on.
Alternatively, you can go through a cycle of 1 hour for each paper and cover all the topics every single day.
Breaks to refresh mind and body are important but please avoid frittering away precious time. You must schedule study and break hours and forget about the world till the Mains are done in June.
Rigorous practice is also needed to build mental stamina.
There are ways to tackle QA tests so that you can speed through the questions with accuracy. Which method is applicable? Which shortcut will you use? Square roots, squares, multiplications, compound interest and seemingly complicated calculations can be tackled with ease and speed if you know how.
Be methodical, cool and calm. This will come naturally to you when you know what to do and how to do it, and you are confident that you are in control of time.
Tip the test in your favour
Many aspirants lose out while tackling the SBI PO sections like Reasoning Ability and Data Analysis because their confusion makes them lose time.
There’s a way to crack these “riddles.” There is a method to this madness and it is called logic. The right tips to channelize your thinking are invaluable for successful performance.
Practice with a timer
Time is of the essence in the SBI PO examinations: we are sure you know this. Practice like you are doing the real tests and that includes timing yourself. Ideally, set yourself a modest target when you are in the initial days of your preparation and increasingly shorten the target time for each section as you progress.
Nothing funny about mock tests
Mock tests are a good way to assess yourself in the later stages of preparation.
The SBI PO exam is a competitive one. Your relative position in the lakhs of candidates who will be writing this exam is what marks your success or failure. Professionally conducted all India mock tests will give you a fair idea of where you stand.
Is English your weak point? There is a Descriptive Test that you will have to take. This is a vast ocean. But experienced trainers can prepare you in important topics for letter writing and essays and can even guide you in what to expect.
Steady, steady! Is all this making you more nervous and jittery? Well, you don’t have to walk this path alone.
