India And Mauritius Ink Four Agreements
India and Mauritius have signed four agreements after delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth in New Delhi. Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth has chosen India as a destination for his first visit, since taking over as the Prime Minister of Mauritius early this year. India has extended a 500 million dollar line of credit to Mauritius. The Line of Credit has been signed between SBM Mauritius Infrastructure Development Co. Ltd and Export-Import Bank of India. Further, both the countries have also agreed that effective management of conventional and non-conventional threats in the Indian Ocean is a sine qua non for pursuing economic opportunities. India and Mauritius have agreed to keep a vigil against piracy, humans, and drugs trafficking as well as illegal fishing and other forms of illegal exploitation of marine resources. India has also appreciated Mauritius for signing and ratification of the framework agreement on International Solar Alliance.
India’s First Electric Mass Mobility System Launched in Nagpur
Maharashtra’s chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has inaugurated India’s first multi-modal electric vehicle project at the Nagpur Airport Complex. The pilot project will have a fleet of 200 electric vehicles including taxis, buses, e-rickshaw and auto rickshaws. All these electric-powered public transport vehicles will be fully owned by the cab aggregator Ola. For the project, Mahindra & Mahindra has manufactured 100 e2o electric taxis. Similar vehicles have also been sourced from other manufacturers like Tata Motors, Kinetic, BYD and TVS, among others. In addition, four electric charging station have also been built by Ola in various places in Nagpur, including the Nagpur airport.
Law Ministry: Poll Candidates Have To Declare Their And Spouse’s Source Of Income
Election contestants will have to declare their own sources of earnings along with that of their spouses’, in the affidavits filed before contesting polls. At present, it is mandatory for the poll contestants to disclose the details of assets and liabilities for self, spouse, and three dependents in Form 26 during the filing of nomination papers but not the source of income. The law ministry has announced an amendment for the conduct of elections.
FM Arun Jaitley Pitches For Air India Disinvestment
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has favoured disinvestment of the loss-making Air India, the flag carrier airline of India. The minister said, the airline’s market share is just around 14 percent whereas the debt burden is 50,000 crore rupees. He indicated possible stake sale in Air India, which is staying afloat on taxpayers’ money. Mr Jaitley, in a DD News programme, said, to run Air India, around 50,000 crore rupees have been put in and that money could have been used for promoting education. Air India, which is surviving on a 30,000-crore rupees bailout package spread over 10 years announced by the UPA government in 2012, is working on ways to improve its financial position.
WHO Confirms 1st 3 Cases Of Zika Virus In India
World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed the first three cases of Zika virus in India, as having been reported from Ahmedabad. This includes a pregnant lady tested in January. All the three cases are from the Bapunagar area of the Ahmedabad city. Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry also reported three confirmed cases of Zika virus disease in Bapunagar area on its website.

Apple has opened its first store in Southeast Asia in Singapore’s upmarket shopping district. Apple expects this store to be one of the most of the most popular stores in the world. Most of the earnings for Apple comes from the sales of its flagship iPhone, which of late faces increasingly tough competition in a saturated market. Apple already has almost 500 stores globally with more than a million visitors daily. Apart from Singapore, it has shops located in Hong Kong, China and Japan in Asia.
Limited’s Gross Turnover Increased By Rs 143 Cr
The supplier of Compressed Natural Gas, CNG and Piped Natural Gas, PNG in the National Capital Region, Indraprastha Gas Limited’s gross turnover has increased by 143 crore rupees to over 4200 crore rupees in 2016-17. The company’s net profit also increased during this period from 418 crore rupees to over 570 crore rupees. The Board of the company has recommended a final dividend of 50 percent in addition to 35 percent interim dividend already declared and paid.
Commences On World’s Largest Telescope In Chile
Construction works for building Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) has commenced in Chile. After completion, the Extremely Large Telescope will become the world’s largest optical telescope which will be five times larger than the top observing instruments that are in use today. The telescope will be constructed at a 3,000 meter-high mountain in the middle of the Atacama desert. The telescope is scheduled to commence its operations in 2024. The ELT is funded by the European Southern Observatory. The organization comprises of European and southern hemisphere nations. It is expected that construction costs of ELT would come around 1 billion euros at 2012 prices.
