Highest Internet density in Delhi; lowest in Bihar

Delhi has the highest Internet density in the country, while Bihar has the lowest. According to data released by the Union Communication Ministry, Delhi has 122.06 number of the Internet per hundred persons while in Bihar it is 17.30. Punjab follows Delhi, with 55.25 subscribers out of 100 persons. In terms of subscribers, UP has the highest number of 48.51 million. States like Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh are the other five states, which follows Delhi and Punjab in Internet density.
Centre implementing a scheme to provide financial assistance to Indian women abused and abandoned by their overseas Indian spouses.

External Affairs Ministry is implementing a scheme to provide financial assistance to Indian women who have been abused and abandoned by their Overseas Indian spouses. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha yesterday, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Krishna Raj said, this will help them in getting access to counselling and legal services, with Indian Missions and Posts abroad. The Scheme is currently operational, in 13 countries namely the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Gulf countries including Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Consular Services Management System (MADAD) is an online portal developed by the Ministry of External Affairs to register grievances pertaining to the Consular Services offered by the Indian Mission and Posts abroad.
India to host 2017 Global Conference on Cyber Space

India will host Global Conference on Cyber Space (GCCS) 2017, the world’s largest conference on cyber space and related issues in New Delhi in November 2017. This is for the first time GCCS is taking place outside Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) nations. It will be the fifth edition the conference.The theme for the GCCS 2017 is ‘Cyber4All: An Inclusive, Sustainable, Developmental, Safe and Secure Cyberspace’. The cyber security will be one of the major focus areas in GCCS 2017. It will serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas with global think tanks and promote closer cooperation among the International community.
Government to launch Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana

The Union Ministry of Rural Development will launch Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY), a sub-scheme under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). AGEY aims to provide an alternative source of livelihood to members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) by facilitating them to operate public transport services in the backward, rural areas.
Lok Sabha passes The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2017

The Lok Sabha has passed The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2017. The Bill amends the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE), 2009 to extend the deadline for teachers to acquire the prescribed minimum qualifications for appointment. Through the amending measure inadequately qualified teachers as on March 31, 2015, working after enactment of the RTE Act, 2009 are being given last chance to acquire minimum qualifications within a period of four years i.e. by March 31, 2019, to hold their jobs as teachers.
Government Approves Proposal to Set up Aerospace University

On the 22nd July 2017, the Central Govt has approved the proposal to set up the Aerospace University. A detailed project report had been sent to the Government for the same, which the latter accepted. 
Dubai chosen as Data Hub for MENASA Region

The United Nations has chosen Dubai as the Data Hub for the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia Region. Dubai has launched a series of measures to mine and manage the data.Dubai will be prepared as the Regional Hub, for which all efforts are underway. The Hub will also serve as a dedicated platform for all city to city, metropolitan and global transfer and management of data in the region.
Govt extends deadline for small businesses to opt for composition scheme under GST till August 16

The government has extended the deadline till 16th of next month for small businesses to opt for the composition scheme in the Goods and Services Tax regime. Earlier, the small businesses with the turnover of up to 75 lakh rupees had time till Saturday to opt for the scheme. To opt for composition scheme, the taxpayer needs to log into his account at the GST Portal www.gst.gov.in and select Application to opt for the Composition Scheme under ‘Services’ menu. They have to fill up the Form GST CMP-01 to opt for the scheme.
7 Indian Companies in the Global Fortune 500 List

The Fortune 500 Companies List of 2016 features as many as 197 Asian Companies, out of which seven are Indian Companies. The Companies have been ranked on the basis of their revenue for the year 2016.Amongst the top 5 are One American Co ( Wallmart (1)), Three Chinese and one Japanese Company (Toyota Motors (5)).
Priyanka Chopra to be honoured at Canadian Film Festival

Indian and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra will be honoured at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada on the September 6. She will be the guest of honour at the event. Priyanka Chopra is being honoured for her role as the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and for promoting her Charity for Health and Education.
