Aadhaar Card required for registration of death from 1st October
Aadhaar card number will be now required for the purpose of establishing the identity of the deceased for death registration from 1st October this year. In a notification, Registrar General of India (RGI) said, the use of Aadhaar for the applicants of Death Certificate will result in ensuring the accuracy of the details provided by the relatives and dependents. It will provide an effective method to prevent identity fraud and also help in recording the identity of the deceased person. Besides, it will obviate the need for producing multiple documents to prove the identity of the deceased person.
Centre proposes to set up 14 new AIIMS hospitals in the country
The Central Government proposes to establish an additional 14 new AIIMS under various phases of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana in different parts of the country. Union Health Minister JP Nadda said this is in the Lok Sabha. Replying to the supplementary on AIIMS and related healthcare system in India, the Minister said, the government is working on enhancing the capacity of the national capital’s medical institutes, which receive a large number of patients from across the country. He said an additional 1,563 new beds will be added to the existing capacity of AIIMS at Delhi. He informed the House that 73 existing medical institutions are being upgraded by setting up the super speciality blocks, trauma centres in the country. The Health Minister said that, the Center will support the establishment of 20 state cancer institute’s and 50 tertiary care cancer centres in different parts of the country.
Second AGRI UDAN programme launched in New Delhi
The second AGRI UDAN programme was launched in New Delhi on the 4th August 2017. The main aim of the programme is to develop innovation & entrepreneurship in agriculture. The programme is being run by the ICAR- NAARM Technology Incubator. This is a six-month programme in which selected promising start ups in the field of agriculture will be mentored and guided to scale up their operations. A series of road shows are being planned across the country to promote this programme.
India’s first heli taxi service launched in Bengaluru
India’s first heli taxi service has been launched in Bangalore on the 4th August 2017. The service has been launched by Thumby Aviation in collaboration with Bangalore International Airport Ltd. Initially, the heli taxi will be launched from Bangalore Airport to Electronics City and will soon be expanded to other parts of the city. There are two helicopters in operation now – one with 13 seats and the other with 5 seats.
Qatar becomes the first Arab country to offer permanent residency to non-residents
Qatar has announced permanent residency to some of its non-resident’s w.e.f 3rd August 2017. Under the new law, residency will be allowed for children of Qatari women married to non-Qataris. The residency permit gives the holders all the rights as that of a normal citizen of the country.
Government announces new exchange traded fund, Bharat-22
On the 4th August 2017, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced a new Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) named BHARAT 22 which consists of 22 scripts including ONGC, IOC, SBI and Axis Bank. ICICI Prudential AMC will be the ETF Manager and Asia Index Private Limited will be the Index Provider. The index will be rebalanced annually. ETF functions like a mutual fund scheme and is bought by the investors as units. Talking to the reporters in New Delhi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, Bharat-22 will have a diversified portfolio of six sectors, including energy, FMCG, finance, basic material and industrial and utilities.
New CMD of SIDBI Appointed
Mohammed Mustafa has been appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). He is a 1995 batch IAS officer of the UP Cadre and working as a Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services. He will now hold the office for a period of three years.
Neymar signs world record deal with PSG
Brazilian footballer Neymar has become the most expensive football player in the history. He was recently bought by Paris Saint Gobain from Barcelona for a record sum of 222 million Euros. This is the biggest deal in the football history. The contract has been signed for five years and is valid until 2022. He has played for Brazil in 77 games scoring 52 goals and led them to their Olympic title in Rio de Janerio in 2016.
