Jharkhand Government launches Shaheed Gram Vikas Yojana 

To develop villages of freedom fighters from the state, the Jharkhand Government has launched the Shaheed Gram Vikas Yojna. It was launched from Ulihattu village, the birthplace of freedom fighter Birsa Munda. Under this scheme, the native villages of many tribal freedom fighters will be developed and the villagers were given basic amenities, which were hitherto unaccessible to these villages.
Tripura becomes the first State in the country to set up Family Welfare Committees   
Tripura has become the first state in the country to set up family welfare district committees to examine the complaints of women against their husbands and in-laws and find an amicable solution. Tripura High Court is the first high court among 24 high courts of the country that has constituted the family welfare district committees. The new system would be valid for the next six months and after that National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) would submit a report of its performance to the apex court, on the basis of which a new course of action would be decided.
Ola ties up with Karnataka Tourism     

In line with United Nations theme for this year’s World Tourism Day, cab aggregator Ola kicked off a tourism campaign in the state. The campaign is being carried out in association with Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation to promote and raise awareness about responsible tourism named “Ghoomo Responsibly”. Headquarter of Ola is in Bangalore, Karnataka. CEO of Ola is Bhavish Aggarwal.
Akshay Kumar appointed Brand Ambassador for Swatch Bharat Mission      

Famous Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador for the Swatch Bharath Mission by the Govt of India. This was announced on 19th Sept 2017.

Mark Beaumont breaks new record in cycling around the world

Scottish cyclist Mark Beaumont has broken the world record for cycling around the world – by 44 days. The 34-year-old, from Perthshire, arrived in Paris one day ahead of schedule having cycled the 18,000-mile route in 79 days. He set a new world record of 194 days in 2008. Since then it has been broken by other riders, with the previous record set at 123 days. He was on his bike for more than 16 hours a day and only slept for five hours each night. During the trip, Mark was also awarded the Guinness World Records title for the most miles cycled in a month, from Paris to Perth in Australia, verified at 7,031 miles (11,315km).
SEBI allows REITs, InvITs to raise funds via debt securities   
The Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on 19th Sept 2017 issued a notification allowing Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) to broaden the scope of their fundraising possibilities by allowing them to raise funds through debt securities like bonds, debentures etc. These companies will now have to hold a stake of at least 50 % in the capital, down from 51% earlier.REITs are now allowed to invest in single assets.
Salman Khan is given the prestigious award in the UK   
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been awarded the Global Diversity Award. The award was given in the British Parliament recently.
Oldest living person dies in Jamaica  
On 18th Sept 2017, the oldest recorded person living, Violet Mosse Brown, died in Jamaica at the age of 117. She had entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest living person.

India wins gold medal in Asian Indoor Games

India won its first athletics gold medal through Purnima Hembram in women’s pentathlon, in the fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. India also got two silvers, through Sanjivani Jadhav in women’s 3000m and Tejinder Singh Toor in men’s shot put, and a bronze through Kerala’s V. Neena in women’s long jump. The previous Asian Indoor Games were held in Incheon, South Korea. Ashgabat is the capital of Turkmenistan.
Rashid Khan becomes the youngest bowler to take 100 T20 wickets

The 18-year-old leg spinner from Afghanistan became the youngest ever to take 100 wickets in T20 matches recently. Rashid Khan, who has become a sensation in the cricketing world, plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League.
