Sixth India- China Forum Meet Inaugurated
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah
has inaugurated the sixth China-India Forum
meet being jointly hosted by the Government of China, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), China-India Friendship Association (CIFA), and Podar Enterprise in Bengaluru. Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries RV Deshpande stated Karnataka expected trade and investments between India and China to increase as India sees big opportunities to attract Chinese companies to Make in India, besides attracting investments.
NINL gets Kalinga Safety Award
Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL) has been awarded the prestigious Kalinga Safety Award for this year. This was given away on 10th November 2017 at the Orissa State Safety Enclave. The Orissa based NINL got the gold medal as the best safety performer of the year 2016. The company manufactures steel billets, pig iron and lam cokes and the current chairman of the company is Ved Prakash.
Ravi Bangar appointed as concurrent Ambassador to Ecuador
The present Indian ambassador to Columbia, Ravi Bangar has been appointed as concurrent Ambassador to Ecuador. This was announced on 10th November 2017. He is an IFS Officer of the 1982 batch. The capital city of Ecuador is Quito and the currency is the US Dollar. The official language of the country is Spanish.
First Woman President of NASSCOM elected
Ms Debjani Ghosh
, former MD of Intel South Asia has been elected the President
of the industry body NASSCOM
. She is the first woman to be elected to the position. She will succeed R.Chandrasekar
on completion of his term in March 2018. Debjani Ghosh has been a member of the NASSCOM Executive Council and a trustee of the NASSCOM foundation. The full form of NASSCOM is National Association of Software and Services Companies. It is a trade union body of the IT and BPO companies in India.
Phanindra Sama appointed Chief Innovation officer of Telangana State
Co-founder of Red Bus and entrepreneur Phanindra Sama
has been appointed as the Chief Innovation officer of Telangana State. He is currently serving as a Patron in Kakatiya Sandbox, an experimentation lab. He got the Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2013.

is observed all over India as National Education Day
. The day is observed on the birth anniversary of Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad
, the first Education Minister of India. The objective of celebrating National Education Day is to strengthen our educational institutions and improve the quality of education in the country.
India re-elected to UNESCO’s Executive Board
India has been re-elected to the Executive Board of the UNESCO, which is the organization’s highest decision-making body. The election was held at the 39th session of the General Conference of UNESCO in Paris.
New sales world record created in China on Single’s Day
China’s top e-commerce giants have garnered over $45 billion during the annual online Single’s Day Sales creating a new record in global retail sales for any single day. Alibaba Group, during its flagship event Double 11 (also called 11.11 sale), surpassed its last year’s “Single’s Day
” sales of 18 billion, netting about 168 billion yuan ($25.3 billion) on Saturday.
Rival online retailer JD.com, the country’s second-biggest online firm which started promotions at the beginning of this month, reported 127.1 billion yuan (about $20 billion) of orders. This was the eighth edition of the online shopping spree which had about 1,40,000 brands including 60,000 international ones.
India, USA, Japan and Australia hold “Quad” talks in Manila
On 12th November India held the first official-level discussion under the newly boosted regional coalition known as the ‘Quad
’, the quadrilateral formation including Japan, India, United States and Australia
. A press release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs stated that ‘open’ and inclusive regional vision and anti-terrorism cooperation were discussed at the quadrilateral where India elaborated on the concept of Indo-Pacific region.
Over 1.3 lac Indians book ticket to Mars
More than 1.3 lakh Indian space enthusiasts have submitted their names to NASA to be carried to Mars onboard the US space agency’s mission to the red planet which will be launched on 5th May 2018. Last month, NASA invited members of the public to send their names which will be carried on the InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) mission to Mars. Those who submitted their names were provided online ’boarding passes’ for the mission. The names are being etched on a silicon wafer microchip using an electron beam to form letters with lines one-thousandth the diameter of a human hair. The chip is affixed to the InSight lander deck and will remain on Mars forever.
US had the most number of people — 6,76,773 — sending their names, followed by China with 2,62,752 names. India stands at number three with 1,38,899 names submitted for the mission.
