November 26th – National Constitution Day  

26th November is Constitution Day. On the day in 1949, the Constitution was adopted which came into force on January 26, 1950, marking the beginning of a new era in the history of India. From 2015, the Government is observing 26th November as Constitution Day. The HRD Ministry has launched a Digital Signature campaign to generate awareness on fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution. People can join the campaign by filling a form online. Dr. BR Ambedkar is known as the Father of Indian Constitution.
Migratory Birds start Arriving in Chilika Lake

After a long flight of thousands of miles, not often punctuated by breaks, lakhs of migratory birds have made their way to the Chilika Lake, Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon. Major bird congregations have been spotted in the wetlands of the Nalabana Bird Sanctuary inside Chilika and Mangalajodi, a major village on the banks of the lake. Chilika lake located in Odisha. It is situated at the mouth of the Daya River.
P. V. Sindhu loses in final of Hong Kong Open Badminton Championship     

In Badminton, Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has lost the title clash of Hong Kong Open Superseries tournament at Kowloon. She lost the final 18-21, 18-21 against Chinese Taipei Tai Tzu Ying. Sindhu walked away with silver after finishing her campaign as the runner-up. In the semi-finals, while Sindhu had defeated Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand, Tai beat South Korea’s Sung Ji-Hyun.
Nitu wins gold medal at AIBA World Women’s Youth Boxing C’ship     

Haryana girl Nitu won the Gold medal in the 48kg category at the AIBA World Women’s Youth Boxing Championship on 26th November 2017. In the event being held in Guwahati, Nitu defeated Kazakhstan’s Zhazira Urakbayeva in the final. It is India’s first Gold since Sarjubala Devi’s gold in the 2011 edition of the event.
Gopi Thonakal becomes first Indian man to win Asian Marathon Championship

On 26th November 2017, Gopi Thonakal has become the first Indian male runner to win the Gold in the Asian Marathon Championship. The 29-year-old, hailing from Kerala, achieved the feat in the 16th edition of the prestigious event at Dongguan in China. Thonakal came first clocking 2 hours, 15 minutes and 48 seconds. Andrey Petrov of Uzbekistan bagged the silver, while Byambalev Tseveenravdan of Mongolia finished third for the bronze.
Golden Temple in Amritsar – the most visited place in the world

On 24th November 2017, the World Book of Records, a London based organization announced that the Golden Temple in Amritsar is the most visited place in the world. The World Book of Records gives this award every three months based on observations of data collected and the Golden Temple got this award for the three months beginning September 2017. On an average, about one lac people visit the shrine every day.
November 25th – International Day for Elimination of violence against women

November 25th was observed as the International Day for Elimination of violence against women all over the world. The theme for the 2017 Day is “Leave no one behind – end violence against women and girls”. The United Nations had designated 25th November as the International Day for Elimination of violence against women. The objective of the day is to spread awareness about the various types of violence that the women of the world are subjected to.
Communal Harmony Week – November 19th to 25th

The week between the 19th and 25th November 2017 was observed as the Communal Harmony Week all over the country. The week was designated by the National Foundation for Communal Harmony. Programmes were organized all over the country by educational institutions, public sector organisations, government agencies, NGOs and voluntary organizations to raise awareness about the week. As part of the week, the National Flag Day was celebrated on 24th November 2017.
Standard & Poor retain India’s Sovereign Rating as BBB-maintains stable outlook

The International Rating Agency S & P has retained India’s Sovereign Rating as BBB and maintains the outlook as “Stable”. BBB is the lowest Investment Grade Rating. The Stable outlook indicates sound external monetary position.
