SBI launches YONO, an integrated app for financial services
State Bank of India, the country’s largest public sector bank, has launched a unified integrated app called YONO (You Need Only One) that would offer all kinds of financial and lifestyle products will allow customers to meet their lifestyle needs across 14 categories from booking cabs to paying for medical needs – all under one roof. For this, the bank has partnered with 60 e-commerce players, including Amazon, Ola, Flipkart, Yatra, Swiggy and BYJU’s.
Defence of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Exercise concludes
The Defence of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Exercise (DANX-2017) was conducted under the aegis of Andaman & Nicobar Command from 20 to 24 November 2017. The main objective of the five-day exercise was to practice and validate procedures and drills of all Command forces aimed at defending strategic Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
HRD ministry launches Digital Signature campaign on Constitution Day
Ministry of Human Resources Development has launched a Digital Signature campaign on Constitution Day affirming faith in Indian Constitution and to generate awareness on fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution. Giving the link in a tweet, Mr. Javadekar stated that people can join the campaign by filling a form online. Constitution Day is celebrated on 26th November.
Winter Session of Parliament to be held from December 15 to Jan 5
The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, headed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, has recommended that the winter session of Parliament be held between December 15 and January 5. This was announced by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar after the CCPA meeting held on Friday. Mr Kumar stated that parliament session and assembly elections date should not overlap and earlier also many times Parliament session has been scheduled, considering assembly elections in the state.
IFFI 2017: 5 Indian films nominated for ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal
Out of nine films nominated by the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) for this year’s International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication (ICFT) UNESCO Gandhi Medal, five are from India. The Indian films competing for the prestigious ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal are ‘Kshitij – A Horizon‘, ‘Manusangada‘, ‘Poorna‘, ‘Railway Children‘ and ‘Take-Off‘. The foreign films in the fray are ‘Amok‘ from Poland, ‘Khibula‘ – a co-production of Germany, France and Georgia, ‘The Last Painting‘ from Taiwan and ‘Women of The Weeping River‘ – a joint production of the US and UK. All nine films are being screened at the ongoing 48th edition of IFFI in India.
RBI raises shareholding limit of ARCs
The RBI has decided to allow asset reconstruction companies to have higher holding than the 26 percent cap set earlier with regard to limits on shareholding of the post-converted equity of a borrower company under reconstruction. The extent of shareholding will be in accordance with the permissible foreign direct investment limit for the sector.
Dr Jitendra announces exclusive ‘Rural Livelihood’ scheme for Northeast
On November 23, 2017, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), Dr. Jitendra Singh announced “North East Rural Livelihood Project”, an exclusive rural Livelihood scheme for the North-eastern states of India. This scheme has been launched to benefit the tribals and the lower socioeconomic groups, including women, in the North-Eastern Region of India. Initially, this scheme will be rolled out to help tribal and even the non-tribal lower groups living in remote areas of four North-Eastern Indian States – Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
Uber to partner with Mahindra for electric vehicles in India
Automaker Mahindra & Mahindra has entered into a partnership with Uber India to deploy electric vehicles on the US cab aggregator’s platform, beginning with a few hundred vehicles in Delhi and Hyderabad in February next year before expanding to other cities in the country. Mahindra & Mahindra’s electric vehicles on the Uber platform will include the e2oplus hatch and the e-Verito sedan.
Rajkummar Rao won the Best Actor award at the APSA for his performance in Newton
Rajkummar Rao won the best actor at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards for his performance in Newton, which also won the best screenplay award to Mayank Tewari and Amit V. Masurkar, at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Brisbane, Australia. The movie revolves around a young government clerk who is sent on election duty to a Maoist-controlled town and how the ideological struggle puts him in an awkward situation.
