Aung San Suu Kyi stripped of Oxford title     

Myanmar’s de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been stripped of the Freedom of Oxford award over her “inaction” in handling the raging Rohingya refugee crisis and turning a “blind eye to violence” in the country that forced over 600,000 people to flee to Bangladesh. Oxford City Council in London voted unanimously to permanently remove the honour given to 72-year-old Suu Kyi in 1997.
French Film on AIDS wins Best Film Award at IFFI, Goa 2017      

Malayalam film Take Off, which is loosely based on the evacuation of nurses from Kerala, who were stranded in Iraq’s Tikrit in 2014, won two awards at the festival’s Indian Panorama section, winning Silver Peacocks for best direction (Mahesh Narayanan) and best actor female (Parvathy). Actor Amitabh Bachchan has also presented the Indian film personality of the year award. The 48th International Film Festival of India was held in Goa.
Bitcoin rises above $10000 for the first time  

Bitcoin rose above the symbolic $10,000 threshold for the first time, bringing its rise for the year to date to more than 900 percent. The price of the cryptocurrency edged above $10,000 on Coinbase, the largest dollar-denominated bitcoin exchange, which gave the latest price as $10,052 in Asia. Bloomberg data gave the intraday high as $10,058 before easing to $9,999. Bitcoin was trading at around $1,000 dollars at the beginning of 2017.
Paytm Payments Bank launched         

A new Payments Bank ‘Paytm Payments Bank’ was formally launched at the hands of the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Currently, India has four Payments Bank including Paytm Payments Bank. The other three operational ones are Airtel Payments Bank, India Post Payments Bank and Fino Payments Bank. A payments bank is a differentiated bank. A customer can open a savings bank account in them and have deposits of up to Rs. 1 lakh. These banks cannot, however, lend money to their customers. There is no minimum balance requirement for the Paytm Payments Bank Savings Account.    
Vijay Shekhar Sharma is the Chairman of the Paytm Payments Bank.  
Badri Narain Sharma appointed as Chairman of National Anti-Profiteering Authority         
Senior bureaucrat Badri Narain Sharma has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Anti Profiteering Authority under the GST rules. An IAS officer of the 1985 batch, Sharma is currently the Additional Secretary in the Department of Revenue, Finance Ministry.
8th Annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit inaugurated at Hyderabad         

On 28th November 2017, the 8th Annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit was inaugurated in Hyderabad by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump, the daughter of the US President. Over 1500 delegates are participating in the event, which is being held in South Asia for the first time. The theme for GES 2017 is “Women first, prosperity for all
South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters wins Miss Universe 2017 crown
The Miss Universe 2017 title has been won by South Africa’s Demi-Leigh-Peters. The pageant was held in Las Vegas in the United States. She became the second South African to win the Miss Universe title after Margaret Gardiner in 1978. Columbia’s Laura Gonsalez was the first runner-up while Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett was the second runner-up at the Miss Universe 2017 contest.
