Prime Minister lays the foundation stone of National Centre for Ageing at AIIMS

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the National Centre for Ageing at AIIMS, New Delhi. The Prime Minister also dedicated the underground connecting tunnel between AIIMS and JNPA Trauma Centre, and Power Grid Vishram Sadan at AIIMS along with the 500 bedded New Emergency Block and 807 bedded Super Specialty Block at the Safdarjung Hospital to the nation.


IRDAI permits LIC to pick up to 51% stake in debt-ridden IDBI Bank

Insurance regulator IRDAI on 29 June permitted LIC to pick up to 51 percent stake in the debt-ridden IDBI Bank, sources said. The decision, they said was taken at the meeting of the Board of Directors of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) at Hyderabad. LIC currently holds 11 percent stake in the bank.


NITI Aayog, GNFC to use blockchain technology for subsidy payments

NITI Aayog and Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GNFC) signed a statement of intent (SOI) to work together towards using the blockchain technology for fertilizer subsidy management. According to an official statement, the GNFC and the Aayog will work on implementing a proof-of-concept (PoC) application for using the technology in subsidy disbursements.


Gujarat’s Dahod tops NITI’s Delta ranking on aspirational districts

Gujarat’s Dahod district topped the first Delta ranking released today by NITI Aayog that captures incremental improvements of aspirational districts on health, education and other development parameters. Other districts that have shown marked improvement on five developmental parameters in the months of April and May 2018 are West Sikkim (Sikkim), Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu), Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh), YSR Kadapa district (Andhra Pradesh). While among the worst performer districts are Kupwara (Jammu and Kashmir), Begusarai (Bihar), Ranchi (Jharkhand), Simdega (Jharkhand), Khagadia (Bihar), NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said today while releasing the first Delta ranking (incremental progress) for the aspirational districts.


PNB sells entire stake in ICRA for Rs 109 cr

Punjab National Bank has sold its entire stake in rating firm ICRA Ltd for a consideration of Rs 109 crore. “The bank has sold its entire stake of 3,30,000 shares of ICRA Ltd through block deal at exchange platform for the gross sale consideration of Rs 108.60 crore on June 28, 2018,” the bank said in a regulatory filing.


NTPC ranked 25th in India’s in Great Place to Work list

State-owned power giant NTPC today said it has been ranked 25th in the list of India’s Great Place to Work for 2018. “The NTPC is the only public sector undertaking among top 25 and has made a quantum leap from 38th position last year,” a company statement said.


Revenue collection for April-May capped at Rs.1,27,461cr

A sum of Rs.1,27,461 crore has been collected towards revenue up to May this year, the Ministry of Finance said on 29 June. The aforementioned figure comprises Rs. 1,02,408 crore tax revenue (Net to Centre), Rs.24, 049 crore of non tax revenue and Rs. 1,004 crore of non-debt capital receipts, an official release noted. Among the non-debt capital, receipts are the recovery of loans (Rs.570 crore) and disinvestment of public sector undertakings (PSUs) (Rs. 434 crores). Meanwhile, Rs.1,11,578 crore has been transferred to state governments as a devolution of the share of taxes by the Centre up to this period, which is Rs. 15,217 crore higher than the corresponding period of the last year 2017-18, the release highlighted. On the other hand, total expenditure incurred by the government is Rs.4,72,954 crore, out of which Rs.4,09,163 crore is on revenue account and the Rs.63,791 crore is on capital account.


ICICI Bank names former IAS GC Chaturvedi as chairman

ICICI Bank on 29th June named a new non-executive part-time chairman in former bureaucrat Girish Chandra Chaturvedi, who said he did not believe the lender was in a mess and it could be steered out of recent incidents. Chaturvedi, 65, will replace current chairman M K Sharma, whose term ends on June 30.


Suresh Prabhu launches Mobile App ‘ReUnite’

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu today launched a mobile application called ReUnite which helps to track and trace missing and abandoned children in India. Speaking on this occasion the Minister appreciated the work being done by the NGO, Bachpan Bachao Andolan & Capgemini for developing this app.
