Manohar Parrikar Launches Goa’s New App-Based Taxi Service “GoaMiles”

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar today flagged off the Goa Tourism Development Corporation’s app-based taxi service in Panaji. During the launch function, Mr. Parrikar said the app-based taxi service, called “GoaMiles”, would ensure that commuters are not cheated and at the same time would increase the earnings of taxi drivers by “two to three” times.

 

Bidder Information Management System (BIMS) and Bhoomi Rashi – PFMS Linkage launched

Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping, Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari launched 2 IT initiatives of the Road Transport & Highways Ministry named: Bidder Information Management System (BIMS) and Bhoomi Rashi and PFMS linkage. BIMS portal will work as a database of information about bidders, covering basic details, civil works experience, cash accruals and network, annual turnover etc. Bhoomi Rashi portal developed by MoRTH and NIC. It comprises the entire revenue data of the country, right down to 6.4 lakh villages.

 


Startup India launches Academia Alliance Programme

Startup India has launched the Startup Academia Alliance programme, which is a unique mentorship opportunity between academic scholars and startups working in similar domains, to fulfill the Indian Government’s mission to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship in the country. The first phase of Startup Academia Alliance was kick-started in partnership with Regional Centre for Biotechnology, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Council on Energy, Environment and Water, and TERI School of Advanced Studies.

 


S Gurumurthy, Satish Marathe appointed to RBI board

The Centre has appointed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS)-affiliate Swadeshi Jagaran Manch co-convenor Swaminathan Gurumurthy and businessman Satish Kashinath Marathe to the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The names were approved on Tuesday as per provisions of Section 8 1C of the RBI Act, 1934 by PM Narendra Modi-led Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. They have been appointed as a part-time, non-official director for the period of 4-year. With the two new appointments, the total number of government-appointed directors on the RBI board has reached 10.

 

S Gopakumar joins United India Insurance as Director and General Manager

Public sector non-life insurance firm United India Insurance Company recently announced the appointment of S Gopakumar as its Director and General Manager with immediate effect.

 


Germany’s Mario Gomez Retires From International Football

Veteran German striker Mario Gomez announced his retirement from international football on recently. The 33-year-old, who made his debut for Germany in 2007, scored 31 goals in 78 international appearances. The former Bayern Munich star represented his country at the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and 2018 and the Euro Cup in 2008 and 2012.

 


DMK Chief M Karunanidhi passes away

DMK Chief and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi passed away at 6.10 pm today in Chennai. The latest press release from the hospital stated that despite the best possible efforts by the medical team to resuscitate him, he failed to respond. The 94-year-old veteran leader was admitted to the Kauveri hospital on the wee hours on 28th. He had been admitted to the ICU was in medical treatment for the past 11 days. President, Vice President, and Prime Minister have expressed their grief over the sad demise of DMK Chief M Karunanidhi.
