Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on 23rd November released Men’s Hockey World Cup anthem composed by renowned music director and composer A.R. Rahman and penned by veteran lyricist Gulzar. The Chief Minister released the hockey sports anthem ‘Jai Hind’ in the presence of Rahman in the state capital.

Karnataka CM launches ‘Badavara Bandhu’ scheme of lending to street vendors

‘Badavara Bandhu’, the ambitious scheme of the state government meant to rid street vendors from the clutches of moneylenders, was launched by Karnataka chief minister (CM), H D Kumaraswamy on 22nd November. Under the said scheme, street vendors would be able to get loans between Rs 2,000 and 10,000 to run their businesses.

 

Odisha CM Launches Drinking Water Project ‘Basudha’

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has laid the foundation stone for the proposed drinking water supply project ‘BASUDHA’ (Buxy Jagabandhu Assured Water Supply to Habitations) at Gomundia in Krushnaprasad block of Puri district. The Rs 183 crore worth drinking water project will benefit 147 villages, including 92 villages of Puri and 55 villages of Ganjam districts located on the banks of Chilika lake.

EIB, SBI to finance wind energy projects

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and State Bank of India (SBI) agreed to cooperate on financing renewable energy and wind energy projects across India. This collaboration will be under the dedicated EUR 600 million renewable energy financing programme which supports large-scale solar investment across the country. EIB also approved a new line of credit worth USD 100 million to Yes Bank to boost private investment in clean energy projects.

Kotak Mahindra Bank launches Open Banking platform for a collaborative fintech ecosystem

The platform provides an open access window to fintechs and app developers to design customized offerings addressing specific customer needs in consultation with the bank. The Open Banking platform enables Kotak to nurture strong relationships with fintechs and developers, the bank said in a statement.

World’s first digital Ice Art Museum to open in Belgium

It’s sure to leave you feeling chilly: towering winged warriors, animals with ferocious faces and plants with textured leaves are among sculptures on display at an ice festival in Belgium, brought to life by lights and 3D video transformations. The world’s first digital Ice Art Museum, in reality, a giant freezer, features over 80 sculptures carved from 3,000 locally-made blocks, or 500 tonnes, of ice. Forty artists of seven different nationalities have worked to create the exhibits.

Noted classical musician Ustad Imrat Khan dies

Classical music stalwart Ustad Imrat Khan, who dedicated his life to propagating the sitar and the surbahar worldwide, has died in the US after a brief illness, his son said on 23rd November. He was 83. Imrat Khan, who famously turned down the Padma Shri last year saying the recognition had come too late and diminished his achievements, belonged to the illustrious Etawa Gharana, or the Imdadkhani Gharana, named after his grandfather Ustad Imdad Khan.
