RBI launches a survey to gauge their scope with respect to turnover, profitability, workforce
With an aim to create a profile of India’s startup sector, the Reserve Bank has launched a survey to gauge their scope with respect to turnover, profitability, and workforce. An RBI press release issued from Mumbai on 27th November informed that the survey would also throw light on the problems faced by the startup sector.
RBI to pump in additional liquidity of Rs 40,000 cr in December
The RBI will pump in another set of liquidity in December by infusing Rs 40,000 crore into the system through open market operations (OMOs). “Based on an assessment of the durable liquidity needs going forward, the RBI has decided to conduct the purchase of government securities under Open Market Operations (OMOs) for an aggregate amount of Rs 400 billion in December 2018,” the central bank said in a release on 27th November.
CCI green signals LIC majority stake buy in IDBI Bank
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has given its nod to Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to acquire up to 51 percent stake in state-owned IDBI Bank. This was confirmed by the competition watchdog on 27th November in a tweet. “@CCI_India approves the acquisition of up to 51 percent equity share capital in IDBI Bank by Life Insurance Corporation of India,” the tweet stated.

Union Commerce Minister revealed logo and brochure of 3-day Logix India 2019 which will be held in New Delhi
On November 27, 2018, the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, launched the logo and brochure of Logix India 2019 in New Delhi. The 3-day Logix India 2019 is scheduled to take place in New Delhi from 31st January to 2nd February 2019. It will be organized by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) to improve logistics cost effectiveness and operational efficiencies for India’s global trade.
GoI and ADB sign $75 mn loans to improve Urban Services in 4 Karnataka towns
The government of India and the Asian Development Bank signed a $75 million loan here today to provide 24 x7 water supply in Karnataka’s four coastal towns of Kundapura, Mangalore Puttur, and Udupi and improve sanitation infrastructure for Mangalore town.
Guntur Nageswara Rao appointed as Atomic Energy Regulatory Board chairman
Renowned scientist Guntur Nageswara Rao has been appointed as Atomic Energy Regulatory Board chairman. He will continue in the post three years. The government of India issued a notification to this effect. He hailed from Chiluvuru in Guntur district. At present, he is working chairman, Project Design Safety Committee, Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor in Kalpakkam.
Alka Mittal is first woman director on ONGC board
Alka Mittal became the first full-time woman director of India’s biggest oil and gas producer ONGC, the company said. Mittal — a post-graduate in economics, an MBA in HR management and a doctorate in commerce and business studies — took over as the Director (HR) of Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) on 27th November, a company statement said here.
Ranbir Singh appointed as new Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi
IAS officer Ranbir Singh has been appointed as the new Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi. He will succeed Vijay Kumar Dev who was recently appointed as the chief secretary of the Delhi government.

India recorded Highest Average Real Wage Growth in South Asia between 2008-17: ILO
According to a new report by the International Labor Organization (ILO), India recorded the highest average real wage growth in South Asia between 2008-17. The Global Wage Report 2018/19 said that workers in Asia and the Pacific got the highest real wage growth among all regions between 2006-17 period, with countries like China, India, Thailand, and Vietnam leading the way. This reflected more rapid economic growth than in other regions, the report added. In South Asia, India led the average real wage growth in 2008-17 at 5.5 against a regional median of 3.7. Following India was Nepal (4.7), Sri Lanka (4), Bangladesh (3.4), Pakistan (1.8) and Iran (0.4), PTI reported.

Singer Mohammed Aziz passes away
Well-known singer Mohammed Aziz passed away in Mumbai on 27th November aged 64. Apart from recording several devotional Bhajans and Sufi songs, Aziz sung for numerous Hindi, Bengali and Odia films. Mohammed Aziz made his singing debut with Bengali film Jyoti. His first big break in Bollywood came with the song “Mard Taangewala” for Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Mard”. Some of Aziz’s famous songs include ‘Imli Ka Boota’, ‘Aap Ke Aa Jaane Se’, ‘Ek Dusre Se Karte Hai Pyar Hum’, ‘Roz Roz Aankhon Tale’, ‘Aankhon Hi Aankhon Main’, ‘Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka’ and ‘My Name is Lakhan’.
