ISRO launches India’s first hyperspectral imaging satellite (HySIS) along with 30 foreign satellites
At exactly 9.58 am on 29th November, Indian Space Research Organisation’s reliable workhorse PSLV-C43 rocket soared into the skies from Sriharikota’s first launchpad carrying with it India’s first hyperspectral imaging satellite (HySIS), an advanced earth observation satellite, and 30 foreign satellites.

National Projects Construction Corporation Limited (NPCC) has been conferred with the status of Miniratna
On 27th November, the Government of India conferred the National Projects Construction Corporation Limited (NPCC) with the status of Miniratna: Category –I. The empowerment of Miniratna Status to NPCC will help the company in taking speedy decisions by enhancing the delegation of powers to the Board.
NITI Aayog organized the 2nd phase of Urban Water Management in New Delhi
On November 26, 2018, NITI Aayog in collaboration with the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) & Temasek Foundation (TF) International organized the 2nd Phase of Urban Management Programme on ‘Water Recycling and Reuse’ at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
International Gita Festival to be held from Dec 7-23 in Kurukshetra
The International Gita Festival, 2018, will be organized in Kurukshetra in Haryana from December 7-23, in which Mauritius will be the partner country and Gujarat the partner state. The Gita festival will also be organized in Mauritius next February, an official spokesperson said.
Arvind Saxena appointed UPSC chairman
Arvind Saxena has been appointed as Chairman of Union Public Service Commission, UPSC. According to an official release, the term of his appointment will be till 7th of August, 2020 when he attains 65 years. Mr. Saxena joined UPSC as a Member on 8th May 2015 and has been performing duties of the post of Chairman, UPSC since 20th of June this year.
AM Naik appointed Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation
The government on 28th November appointed AM Naik as the Chairman of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Naik is currently the Group Chairman of engineering conglomerate Larsen and Toubro.
Indian Navy commander, captain win ‘Asian of the Year’ award for Kerala flood rescue
An Indian Navy commander and a captain were among those honored at the ‘Asian of The Year’ awards here on 28th November, acknowledging their selfless service and bravery in rescue operations during the devastating floods in Kerala. Commander (Pilot) Vijay Varma and Captain (Pilot) P Rajkumar were honored for their death-defying rescue flying during the floods earlier this year.
‘Miko 2’: IIT-Bombay graduates launch India’s first advanced personal robot for kids
On 27th November 2018, Graduates of Indian Institute of Technology – Bombay (IIT-B) who are Co-founders of a start-up called Emotix have launched India’s first advanced personal robot Miko 2 for Kids.
CSIR to establish a High-End Skill Development Centre in Chandigarh
On 27th November 2018, India’s Premier National Research Laboratory, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR – IMTECH) announced a new partnership with a leading German Science and technology company, Merck to establish a “High-End Skill Development Centre” at CSIR- IMTECH in Chandigarh.
