The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi has approved the following:
  • The revised Office Memorandum pertaining to the Cabinet Note on “Amendment of Constitution to provide for reservation for Economically Weaker Sections”
  • Regularization of certain allowances being paid over and above the 50% (pre-revised) ceiling prescribed by DPE to the executives of certain operational category employees of AAI
  • Abolition of Institution of Income-Tax Ombudsman and Indirect Tax Ombudsman

  • Establishment of a unified authority for regulating all financial services in International Financial Services Centres (IFSCs) in India through International Financial Services Centres Authority Bill, 2019
  • Establishment of Circuit Bench of Calcutta High Court at Jalpaiguri
  • Proposal for Official Amendments to the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Bill, 2018
  • Establishment of Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog for Conservation protection and development of cows and their progeny
  • Proposal for setting up 12,000 MW grid-connected Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Projects
  • Continuation for the Central Sector Scheme of Exploration of Coal and Lignite for a period of 3 years from 2017-18 2019-2020

  • CCEA approves the creation of Agri-Market infrastructure fund for development and up-gradation of Gramin Agriculture Markets

India’s communication satellite GSAT-31 successfully launched from French Guiana

India’s communication satellite GSAT-31 has been launched successfully from French Guiana in the wee hours today. The Ariane-5 rocket lifted off with it from Kourou Launch Base at 2:31 am Indian time, and in 42-minutes, placed it in the intended Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit.

 

2019 Asia LPG Summit organized by the World LPG Association in New Delhi

On 5th of February, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for petroleum and natural gas, inaugurated the 2019 Asia LPG summit in New Delhi. The two-day summit with the theme ‘LPG – Energy for Life’ will deliberate over series of subjects including how India’s successful Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana can become a viable model for other countries to replicate particularly those striving to provide clean cooking fuel to its people.

SBI UK chief awarded ‘Freedom of the City of London’

India’s largest state-owned lender SBI’s regional head in the UK has been honored with the ‘Freedom of the City of London’ award in recognition of his contribution to promoting the bilateral relations. Sanjiv Chadha, who oversaw State Bank of India (SBI) UK’s transition into a subsidiary in April last year, was nominated for the honor by Lord Mayor of London Peter Estlin and Sheriff Vincent Keaveny.
