Nitin Gadkari inaugurated 16th Global SME Business Summit

Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Road Transport & Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the 16th Global SME Business Summit 2019 in New Delhi. This summit is organized by the Ministry of MSME and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) every year. The theme of this year’s summit is: “Making Indian MSMEs Globally Competitive. “

 

President Ram Nath Kovind Inaugurates India Water Week-2019

President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the sixth ”India Water Week-2019” being organized with the theme of ”Water cooperation-coping with 21st-century challenge’ at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The event has been organized by the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, the Ministry of Jal Shakti from September 24-28, 2019.

 

J&K becomes the first state to issue the highest number of golden cards under Ayushman Bharat scheme

Jammu and Kashmir has become the first state in the country to issue the highest number of golden cards under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Over 11 lakh golden cards have been generated within the first 90 days of the launch of the scheme with 60% of families having at least one golden card which is highest in the country.
Under the scheme, 155 Hospitals including 126 public and 29 private hospitals have been impaneled to provide free and cashless treatment to the entitled beneficiaries while as per Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 6.30 lakh poor and vulnerable families of J&K are entitled for it.

 

PMC Bank customers can not withdraw more than Rs. 1,000 from their accounts: RBI

The Reserve Bank of India or RBI has put restrictions on the amount depositors of Mumbai-based Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank (PMC Bank) can withdraw from their accounts with the urban co-operative banks. According to the Directions, depositors will be allowed to withdraw a sum not exceeding Rs. 1,000 of the total balance in every savings bank account or current account or any other deposit account by whatever name called, subject to the conditions stipulated in the RBI Directions.

Amitabh Bachchan to be honored with Dada Saheb Phalke award 2019

The country’s highest film honor, Dadasaheb Phalke award, conferred for “outstanding contribution for the growth and development of Indian cinema” will be presented this year to Amitabh Bachchan. Mr. Bachchan has been honored with the Padma Shri in 1984 and the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015. The Dadasaheb Phalke award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus), a shawl and a cash prize of Rs. 1,000,000.

 

Prime Minister Modi receives “Global Goalkeeper” award for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the “Global Goalkeeper” award by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by his government. Mr. Modi dedicated the award to those Indians who transformed the Swachh Bharat campaign into a “people’s movement” and accorded topmost priority to cleanliness in their day-to-day lives.

 

Ravish Kumar received the first Gauri Lankesh Memorial Award

Senior journalist and Ramon Magsaysay awardee Ravish Kumar received the first Gauri Lankesh Memorial Award in Bengaluru. He was chosen for the award for sharp news analysis and uncompromising secular stance by the Gauri Lankesh Memorial Trust, founded in memory of the journalist. Three books were launched at the event titled ‘Delhi Nota’ by senior journalist D Umapathi, Ravish Kumar’s ‘Free Voices’ translated as ‘Maatige Enu Kadime’, and ‘Neera Nade’ by Prof Vinaya Okkunda.

Gandhi Solar Park inaugurated at UN headquarters on Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other world leaders also inaugurated the Gandhi Solar Park at the UN headquarters and released a commemorative stamp issued by the UN on the occasion of Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary. The platform is a living example that Mahatma Gandhi was from India but did not belong only to India. He said, even those who had never met Gandhiji were deeply influenced by his life. The prime minister said, Gandhiji had stressed on the real strength of democracy. UN Secretary-General António Guterres and a number of heads of state were present on the occasion.

 

UN Climate Action Summit 2019 Held in New York

The 2019 UN Climate Action Summit was held on September 23, 2019, in New York, United States to address the global climate emergency. The summit is mainly focused on increasing the commitments of government, business, and civil society to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 45 percent by 2030, and a target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. UN 2019 Climate Summit theme is ‘Climate Action Summit 2019: A Race We Can Win. A Race We Must Win.’

 

India announces $ 12 million grant for high impact developmental projects in Pacific Island countries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met leaders of the Pacific Islands Developing States (PSIDS) on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York. The Prime Minister demonstrated India’s commitment to advancing their development priorities. Prime Minister Modi announced the allocation of 12 million US Dollar grant towards the implementation of high impact developmental projects in the area of their choice.
