Bhopal Metro To Be Called “Bhoj Metro” After Indian King “Raja Bhoj”

Bhopal metro will be named after Indian King “Raja Bhoj” and be called “Bhoj Metro” announced Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath. Bhoja was the king in the Paramara dynasty that ruled Malwa and surrounding areas in west-central India between the 9th and 14th centuries. The inscriptions from king Bhoja’s reign have been found in present-day Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The first phase of the metro rail network Madhya Pradesh and Indore will be operational by 2023.

 

DRDO Signs MoU With Central University Of Jammu

The Central University of Jammu has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence for the establishment of Kalam Centre for Science and Technology (KCST). The MoU has been inked to facilitate and undertake multidisciplinary directed basic and applied research and technology development in computational system security and sensors. KCST will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment leading to an increase in research scholars in these areas.

 

Odisha unveiled a mascot Tiki Mausi to popularise women, child schemes

The Women and Child Development (WCD) department launched a comprehensive communication strategy and unveiled a mascot ‘Tiki Mausi’ to popularise programs and schemes of the department. Tiki Mausi’ will be used to ensure last mile penetration in every corner of the State through social media, folk media, radio jingles, animated videos, wall paintings and hoardings. The mascot, resembling a typical friendly neighborhood aunty has words of advice for everyone starting from mothers to children and adolescents.

Air Marshal HS Arora appointed as IAF Vice Chief

Air Marshal HS Arora has been appointed the Vice Chief of Indian Air Force. He will succeed Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria who will take over as the Chief of Air Staff on September 30. The Cente on September 19 appointed Air Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria the next chief of the India Air Force (IAF).
Bhadauria, who is currently Vice Chief of Air Staff, will take over the charge as the Chief of Air Staff after his predecessor and the incumbent IAF Chief BS Dhanoa retires on September 30. Meanwhile, Air Marshal B Suresh has been appointed as Western Air Commander of the Air Force. He will succeed Kargil war hero Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar on October 31.

Deepak Punia claims world number 1 spot in 86 kg

World Championship silver medallist wrestler Deepak Punia has jumped to world number one position in 86kg but Bajrang Punia lost the top rank in the 65kg category in the latest rankings issued by the international federation – United World Wrestling (UWW). However, Bajrang, who went into the World Championship as world number one, dropped to number two spot after managing a bronze in the 65kg category. In women’s rankings, Vinesh Phogat, who also won a bronze in Nur-Sultan along with Tokyo Olympic quota, has jumped to number two in 53kg category.

Infosys Bags UN Global Climate Action Award for ‘Carbon Neutral Now’ Category

IT major Infosys has received the United Nations Global Climate Action Award in the ‘Climate Neutral Now’ category. Infosys is the only corporate from India to earn the recognition for its efforts to combat climate change. The announcement of the winners was made after the UN Climate Summit in New York convened by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The award will be presented to Infosys at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Santiago, Chile (December 2019).

 

Andhra Pradesh bags top honor at National Tourism Awards

Andhra Pradesh bagged the top honor at the National Tourism Awards 2017-18, which were presented by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. A total of 76 awards were given under various categories this year. Andhra Pradesh bagged the Best State Award for overall growth in the tourism category. Goa and Madhya Pradesh were the joint winners in the Adventure Tourism category and Uttarakhand won the award for the Best Film Promotion-Friendly State. Telangana won the award for the Best State for the innovative use of IT.

The theme in 2019 is “Climate change challenges, time for global Environmental Health to act in unison,” calls on environmental health practitioners throughout the world to help play a role in adaptation strategies and measures to protect communities against the challenges of climate variability.

 

Indo-Kazakhstan Joint Military Exercise KAZIND – 2019 to be held from 02 to 15 October

Joint Military Exercise KAZIND-2019 between India and Kazakhstan will be conducted at Pithoragarh from 02 to 15 October 2019. The exercise will comprise of nearly 100 soldiers from both Indian and Kazakhstan Army who would be sharing their experience gained during conduct of various counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in the past. Exercise KAZIND-2019 is the fourth edition of an annual event which is conducted alternatively in Kazakhstan and India. The joint military exercise will enhance the level of defence cooperation further fostering bilateral relations between the two nations.

 

‘Kounotori8’, World’s Biggest Cargo Spaceship Launched by Japan To Replenish Supplies At ISS

Japan successfully launched an unmanned cargo spacecraft named Kounotori8 (also known as HTV-8) to resupply the International Space Station (ISS). The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s (JAXA) has declared the spaceship as “the world’s biggest transport space ship.”
Kounotori8 will deliver about 5.3 tonnes of supplies to astronauts at the ISS, including fresh food and water as well as batteries and devices needed for experiments.
