IT students to get better jobs this year

The IT sector will see better growth and generation of more jobs in 2013 compared to other sectors, said noted IT expert and Talentsprint Executive Chairman J.A Chowdary.

Addressing students of Prakasam Engineering College at Kandukur, he said the National Association of Software and Services Companies(NASSCOM) has also sounded positive, projecting growth in export revenues by 11-14 per cent and domestic revenues by 13 to 16 per cent in FY2013. Devaluation of the rupee augured well for the IT industry, he added.

Giving valuable tips to students, the Software Technology Park of India(STPI) founder director emphasised the importance of reaching out to information beyond the curriculum. He suggested that the students sign up for additional courses through online websites like www.coursera.org and www.edx.org that offered interesting courses, where students could learn at their pace and interest.

He said as the IT industry was outsourcing training due to time and cost, training organisations like Talentsprint which had created “Centres of Excellence” to provide customized courses relevant to 6th and 7th semester college students blending technology, industry-specific project work and business communication. He impressed upon the students to pursue a course that they had passion for.
