Punjab Teacher Eligibility Test

Punjab Teachers Eligibility Test (PSTET) is conducted by Punjab Board of School Education. It is a compulsory exam for candidates aspiring to become teachers in the Primary or Secondary school affiliated to the Punjab State Government. All candidates must be B.ED qualified to be eligible for the PSTET exam.

Eligibility and Qualifications for Punjab TET:

Eligibility for Punjab TET

The NCTE has the below guide lines for the eligibility of candidates for the Meghalaya TET: Educational Qualifications for teaching Classes I to V and VI to VIII:

Educational Qualifications for teaching Classes I to V and VI to VIII:

(A). Candidate must possess among following minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming teacher for Classes I to V (Primary Section):

Educational Qualification:

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
  • Appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (By Whatever name known).or
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El. Ed.) or
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
  • Appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) or
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education(by whatever name known)

Reservation: Relaxation upto 5% in qualifying marks for the candidates of reserved category as per State Govt. norms.

(B). Candidate must possess among following minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming teacher for Classes VI to VIII (Upper Primary Section):

Educational Qualification Maximum Age: 33 years as on 01/12/2015 (age relaxation to SC and ST candidates as per norms)

  • Educational Qualification Maximum Age: 33 years as on 01/12/2015 (age relaxation to SC and ST candidates as per norms)
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B. Ed). Or
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
  • Appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El.Ed.) Or
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
  • Appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A Ed./B.Sc. Ed. Or
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed Or
  • Appearing in I-year /B. Ed. (Special Education) Reservation: Relaxation upto 5% in qualifying marks for the candidates of reserved category as per State Govt. norms.

Diploma in Special Education and B. Ed. (Special Education) organized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) shall only be considered. Note (a)Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC and ST/Differently abled.

Note (b)The candidate not having anyone of the above qualification shall not be eligible for appearing the Punjab Teacher Eligibility Test.

Structure of the Punjab TET exam:

Paper 1: For Candidates wanting to become teacher of grade I to V.

The Punjab Government conducted TET exam in the month of December 2015. Over 1.71 Lakh candidates appeared for the test.
